There and Back Again: Call for Submissions

Yesterday, Klint Finley pointed out an interview over on TheoFantastique's blog with John Perlich and David Whitt, discussing their modern mythological work Sith, Slayers, Stargates, and Cyborgs: Modern Mythology in the New Millennium. I wrote Perlich and Whitt to uncover more information about their upcoming sequel There and Back Again, and they were kind enough to forward me along the submissions guidelines for their call for chapters. Knowing how mythologically inclined the Key 64 readers are, I've posted the guidelines below for anyone looking to contribute:

Call for Chapters

Deadline: March 30, 2008

This proposed edited volume is a logical extension of the recently published work with Peter Lang Publishing titled Sith, Slayers, Stargates, and Cyborgs: Modern Mythology in the New Millennium. This collection of interdisciplinary works in comparative mythology will unite scholars and cultural critics from a variety of fields (including but not limited to rhetoric, media, cultural studies, and communication studies) as they examine modern fantasy texts from mythic and rhetorical perspectives. Applications of methodology to fantasy literature, film, and texts (with the goal of contributing to communication inquiry and practice) are especially encouraged. Chapters could feature an application of methods (including but not limited to feminist, ideological, metaphoric, narrative, generative) to a wide variety of texts (Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Rowling's Harry Potter series, Lewis' Narnia, Pullman's The Golden Compass, del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, etc).

Proposals should include (1) title page with contact information for authors, (2) biographical page (a brief biographical statement for all authors), (3) a proposal (maximum of 5 pages excluding references) following the current APA Publication Manual. Final chapters will be limited to 30 pages. First drafts of chapters selected for inclusion must be submitted by August 1, 2008. Direct questions and proposals to both co-editors:
